Only for Our Clients...

The Guest Home has recently formed a partnership with Costa Rica Green Travel on La Avenida Central in San José. This negotiation was made in the interest of offering clients of both companies' incentives for entrusting them with your Costa Rica experience.

Note: If you require five-star lodging, limousine transportation, or luxury cruises of your travel experience, stop reading here. If you seek comfortable, dirt cheap stays at the most active and popular youth hostels in Costa Rica, as well as rustic tours of the country’s fascinating nature, see below…

Finally, a package designed for the backpacker! We have considered all of the most popular Costa Rican destinations among backpackers, located the best rated hostels in each, and connected the dots. What we came up with is a travel itinerary that will expose you to the country’s most biologically diverse environments, serene white sand beaches, and active night life…for the least amount of money possible.

We realize that an integral part of the travel experience is its social aspect, and so have consciously chosen locations and hostels that provide an atmosphere where you will meet other backpackers like yourself.

The Hostel Package offers you Costa Rica on a backpacker’s budget. Strap on your leather boots, pack your three favorite T-shirts, and meet us in Costa Rica!

Day 1Arrival in San José

Upon your arrival to the Juan Santa Maria Airport, a representative from Costa Rica green travel will be waiting with a sign bearing your name or the name of your group. After the meet and greet, you will be transported to your hostel in San José, the Hostel Guest Home.

Day 2The 4 in 1 Tour; night in San José

Today you will experience the 4 in 1 tour, a day trip which presents four natural wonders of Costa Rica´s Central Valley. You will be picked up from the Guest Home of Costa Rica at 6:30 am and head towards the Poás Volcano. Your first stop will be a typical coffee plantation, where you will visit the mill and roast room, and learn about coffee agriculture in Costa Rica. Breakfast will be served at the coffee plantation.

After breakfast, the tour will continue to the massive Poás Volcano. Unlike some of the country´s more active volcanoes, visitors may walk to the edge of Poás´ main crater and gaze inside, where a green sulfuric lake steams at its center.

The tour´s next stop is La Paz Waterfall gardens. Here, you will get above, beside, and under four massive waterfalls, as well as view a number of live animal exhibits. You will also experience the country’s largest butterfly garden. Lunch will be served at La Paz Waterfall Gardens.

We will next head towards Puerto Viejo, where we will take a boat trip on the Sarapiquí River. Here, you will see the wildlife that lives in and around the river, including crocodiles, monkeys, and tropical birds.

You will spend another night in San José at the Hostel Guest Home.

Day 3San Luis Canopy Tour; night in La Fortuna

You will be picked up at 8:30 am from the Hostel Guest Home and head towards La Fortuna. Our first stop will be the San Luis Canopy Tour, which will take you on an exhilarating and safe adventure through lush, green canopy and across the majestic Rio Cataratitas. You will soar via a system of “ziplines” from treetop to treetop, where a series of platforms have been constructed in the high cloud forest canopy. Also presented in the tour is the "Elevator," a thrilling feature that securely lifts visitors high above the forest canopy, granting a paramount view of the surrounding area. Lunch will be served at the San Luis Canopy Tour.

After the tour, we will continue on to La Fortuna, where you will check into La Chosa Inn Hostel.

Day 4Tour of Volcano Arena and Baldí Hot Springs; night in La Fortuna

You will have the first half of the day to sleep in and explore the town of La Fortuna. At 3:00 pm, we will set off for a tour of Volcano Arenal and the Baldí Hot Springs. We will first visit the volcano, where the daily eruption is highly visible on clear nights. With luck, we will feel the ground shake and see the night come alive with ash and lava.

Next, we will visit the Baldí Hot Springs. Here, you will have the opportunity to submerge yourself in the therapeutic waters of the ground-warmed pools, which wonderfully contrast the cool night air. Dinner will be served at the Baldí Hot Springs.

You will spend another night at La Chosa Inn Hostel.

Day 5Salvatura Suspension Bridges; night in Monteverde

You will be picked up from your hostel in the morning and head to Monteverde, where you will check into the Pension Santa Elena Hostel upon arrival. You will have time to eat lunch, and then we will set off for the famous “Salvatura Suspension Bridges.”

The Suspension Bridges of Salvatura Biological Reservation are a three-kilometer system of treetop paths that traverse the area´s cloud forest. Visitors to the hanging bridges will walk eight different bridges of various lengths, and that hang at heights of 12 to 60 meters. Every pathway is 1.5 meters in diameter, making this the widest hanging bridge system in Costa Rica. Also, the bridges can easily support up to 60 people at a time.

You will spend the night at the Pension Santa Elena Hostel.

Day 6Free time and optional activities; night in Monteverde

Today you will have free to enjoy Monteverde on your own. There are a multitude of optional activities to choose from in the area, including hikes in the local cloud forest biological reserves, horseback riding, coffee tours, and bird watching, among many others.

You will spend another night at the Pension Santa Elena Hostel.

Day 7-9Free time and optional activities; three nights in Montezuma

To finish the experience with some beach time, we will next head to Montezuma, where you will check into the Montezuma Hostel.

For many years, the beach town of Montezuma has held near legendary status among surfers, aged hippie expatriates, and backpackers from around the world. It is what many consider the prototype Costa Rican beach town.

The town emits a quaint, of-the-beaten-path semblance with its lines of beach side bars, brightly colored buildings, and streets littered with arts and jewelry merchants. When you are here, you will have the opportunity to comb pristine coast, explore beachside waterfalls, hike the town´s surrounding rainforest, experience the exciting night life, and brows artist´s stands for hand-made souvenirs.

You will spend three nights at the Montezuma Hostel.

Day 10Return to San José

You will be transported from Manuel Antonio to the Hostel Guest Home.
